SEATTLE - For the first time since 1951, Washington and Montana will meet on the football field as the Huskies will play host to the Grizzlies on Sept. 2, 2017, at Husky Stadium.

UW director of athletics Scott Woodward announced today that an agreement has been reached for the two Northwest schools to renew their gridiron rivalry.

Montana, the 1995 and 2001 NCAA Division I FCS champion, played in the same conference (the Pacific Coast Conference, which evetually became the Pac-12) as the UW from 1924 to 1950. The Huskies and Griz played one another 18 times from 1920 to 1951, with all but one of those meetings coming in Seattle.

The Montana game is the only confirmed, non-conference game currently on the Huskies' 2017 schedule. Originally, a home game vs. Wisconsin had been slated for 2017, but has since been moved to 2018.
