October 11, 2012There's no doubt that Washington is heading into Saturday's game against Southern Cal as the underdog.
However, a win today looks much more plausible than it did before the start of the season.
While the Huskies have been blown out twice this year, both of those losses came to then-No. 2 ranked teams nationally and on the road. It doesn't get much tougher than a night game in Autzen, and it certainly doesn't get any tougher than a night game in Tiger Stadium.
Both of those teams, Oregon and LSU, are ranked higher than Southern Cal.
And it's not as though USC just lost to Stanford in a head scratcher. Not only were the Trojans dominated in many ways by the Cardinal, a team that Washington defeated at home, but they have been underwhelming the rest of the season.
Syracuse kept it close in the Carrier Dome. Cal avoided a blowout in the Coliseum. Utah made it interesting for a long time just last week.
USC's struggles in Seattle are well documented. And Kiffin's squad has been especially iffy on the road this season.
So what would lead anyone to believe this game is a monumental task for the Huskies? Make no mistake about it: To this date USC has been the better team. But it would not be a shock if the Dawgs pulled the upset.
