November 12, 2012Saturday night, tailback Bishop Sankey had 36 carries for 162 yards and two touchdowns.
That was the fifth time this season that he surpassed the 100-yard mark. With that game, he also surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the year. That was the 16th time in UW history that a player has done so, and Sankey is the 10th different player to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season.
Did we mention he's a sophomore?
Here are some of his teammates' responses to his performance:
"It's a credit to our offensive line. Bishop's been running great. He hasn't been going down off the first hit, he's bouncing off guys, making guys miss and getting to the second level," quarterback Keith Price said.
"He's only a sophomore. He got a long way to go and he's going to continue to get better," Price said.
"He's become one of those premier backs, and he's worked really hard," tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins said. "He's always the guy wining sprints on Sundays everything he's getting right now he deserves because he's that type of player."
"I'm really happy for him," Seferian-Jenkins said. "He's shining bright right now and he's going to continue to shine bright and get better."
"He's the hardest worker on the team and he's devoted to getting better every single week," Seferian-Jenkins said.
