The speculation has continued regarding Canton (Ohio) McKinley defensive end Se'von Pittman and whether or not he may make an official visit to Ohio State. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound defensive end is rated a four-star prospect by Rivals.com and, despite being committed to Michigan State, is one of the top targets left for the Buckeyes. On Monday night, Pittman commented on Ohio State's hiring of Urban Meyer and what it has done for his recruiting status.
"My reaction is the same," said Pittman. "I'm still committed to Michigan State. Urban Meyer being at Ohio State now does not change that I'm committed to Michigan State."
Pittman added that he is still in the process of figuring out whether or not he will make an official visit to Ohio State.
"I don't know right now," he said. "I still have to talk to my Mom about that, but you could say that I'm thinking about it."
While the impact of Urban Meyer at Ohio State may reach across the nation, it is not something that Pittman feels will factor in his decision making process.
"Urban Meyer being there, it really doesn't affect things at all," he said. "I mean, I would like to meet him but other than that it doesn't really affect anything. If I want to come and visit, I'm going to come and visit (regardless of the coaching situation)."
Pittman said that any visit to Columbus would be centered around just getting to talk with the coaching staff and getting a feel for how he would fit in at Ohio State.
"There's not really like one reason (why he would visit Ohio State)," he said. "I would just sit down and talk to the staff, maybe just to see their opinions and where they see me at and just sort of talk to them about little things like that, nothing major."
Pittman is the No. 3 ranked prospect in the BuckeyeGrove.com class of 2012 Ohio rankings and is one of the top prospects in the Midwest.
