Where things stand now
What started as a promising season that peaked after a win against Arizona has taken a very different turn.
The Huskies have taken steps back after a narrow defeat at Stanford. The Huskies got dominated by Oregon and then thrashed by the Sun Devils in a complete and utter breakdown in all facets of the game.
Any hopes of reaching the Rose Bowl hasve been dashed the last two weeks, and the big question for the Huskies now is whether Sarkisian and company can surpass seven wins for the first time in three seasons, or whether they will continue their recent trend.
Sarkisian has taken a Huskies program that was embarrassingly bad for the majority of the decade and led them to some level of respectability. However, the maddening inconsistency of the Huskies has caused them to stall in their progress towards becoming elite.
The Huskies' saving grace is that their remaining five games are all winnable, and games against Cal and Colorado in the next two weeks should have the Huskies at 6-3 heading into a match up at the Rose Bowl against UCLA.
If the Huskies can win at least one of the two road games they have left, they will likely finish the season with eight wins and have a shot to make it a nine-win season with a bowl game win.
While this isn't quite what Husky fans were hoping for after the first four weeks of the season, this would likely have the Huskies finishing in the top-20 and have them making the necessary strides towards contending for a Pac-12 title in 2014.
