As we reported earlier Friday in our recruiting blog, 2017 three-star Tumwater (Wash.) linebacker/athlete Cade Otton was nearing a decision, potentially within the next week. Friday, he took a second unofficial visit to Washington in roughly eight days with a clear intention.

Otton committed to UW head coach Chris Petersen after practice concluded, a source told Rivals. He now becomes the 12th verbal commitment for Washington in 2017, and the first linebacker commit.

The 6'5, 225-pound prospect is rated a three-star tight end by Rivals, but will play linebacker for the Huskies. Otton told TheDawgReport.com after his offer that he didn't mind playing either offense or defense, whichever gets him on the field soonest.

"I really don't care where I play," Otton said of his preferred position. "I've always loved playing defense as well as I love playing tight end. Whichever is quickest to get on the field so I'm open to playing anywhere."

Otton picked the Huskies over offers from Oregon State and Nebraska, among several others. He also becomes the third in-state commitment for the class of 2017 - Connor Wedington and Hunter Bryant the other two - and the 22nd in-state player to commit to Washington in the Chris Petersen era.

We will have more on this story soon...
