2017 4-Star UCLA Commit Set to Visit Washington

Washington has been on 2017 four-star Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral weak-side defensive end Hunter Echols, a current UCLA commit, since the SoCal prospect was uncommitted. Despite his verbal to the Bruins, the No.34 overall prospect in California has remained high on the Huskies.

On Tuesday night the four-star prospect announced he would visit Washington. He confirmed with Rivals.com his visit will be April 15, which could change his recruitment with his mindset.

"It's my runner up - I love UDub," Echols told Rivals.com on Tuesday. "I was going to commit to UDub. I never visited but being a fan of the Huskies and the coaching staff, it's really cool. I love what they have going on there."

Echols wanted to flip his commitment earlier this year, but Washington Head Coach Chris Petersen wanted the four-star prospect to make sure he was 100-percent sure of his decision, and to visit UW before making a decision.

Washington offered Echols early and since then they've never lost their touch with him. Getting the chance to have the UCLA commit on campus could make his decision final, given how high he is on Washington.

"Overall I just really love the University of Washington," Echols said. "Everything the coaches have to offer I really like what they are doing over there. I hope I can really enjoy my trip on the 15th. The University of Washington is on the rise and I just want to be someone who was with them as they were coming up. Instead of being the opposing team watching UDub rise and my team lose."

We will continue to follow Echols' recruitment heading into his visit and post-visit.
