2017 four-star Provo (Utah) Timpview safety Chaz Ah You announced recently he will make his commitment on Jan. 26 having taken official visits to Washington and UCLA already. The Rivals250 prospect will also visit Stanford and BYU before making his decision coming out of the dead period on Jan. 11.
Ah You has not released a top list of schools since releasing a Top 12 several months ago. The four-star safety said he does not have a final list of schools that he will choose between and will not announce that until his remaining visits are taken.
UW defensive line coach Ikaika Malloe, defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski and defensive backs coach/co-defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake have all played a role in his recruitment and spoke with Ah You during his official visit Dec. 9-11.
"Went really well I loved the entire visit," Ah You told Rivals following his official visit to Washington. "It's beautiful. The campus seemed like a movie to me which was really cool. I was very impressed with Washington. Just the mindset there is unique. The way they do things is just different. The feel there was something I didn't expect at all."
The Huskies have told Ah You he can play either safety or linebacker in their defense. The four-star prospect said he feels more comfortable at safety having played only safety in high school, but noted his size allows him to be interchangeable.
"UCLA, BYU, Washington and Stanford are all pretty tight with me," Ah You said in early December.
Ah You will take a two-year mission following high school allowing him to commit and sign his National Letter of Intent without his scholarship counting until 2019 should he choose to enroll at Washington (and as a result commit to UW on the 26th).
