2018 4-star Washington DE Commit Draco Bynum Would Sign Now If He Could

It took only fourteen days for four-star defensive end Draco Bynum to commit to Washington, from the time he received his offer to reciprocating the good news to UW head coach Chris Petersen.

Since his commitment on April 22 the Collegiate Commissioners Association approved an early signing period beginning with the class of 2018. For a 72-hour window from Dec. 20-22 senior football recruits can sign their National Letter of Intent.

For the Huskies that likely will yield several faxes with the culture built under Petersen that making a verbal pledge to commit equals effectively signing an NLI. That is no different for Bynum who, if the rules allowed him to, would sign today if he could.

"Well my first thought is definitely the sooner the better," Bynum said of the early signing period. "I don't see any reason to put it off. I'll have to talk with my dad and coach, but I would sign today if I could."

Since his commitment several schools have still placed their calls in an effort to sway him away from his decision. But the four-star defensive end hasn't budged off his choice, and he's hoping schools continue to respect his decision.

"A couple reached out soon after," Bynum said. "I politely reminded them that I am firmly committed to Washington and they seemed to respect that so far."

Washington currently holds eight verbal commitments including Bynum:

Four-star Murrieta (Calif.) Murrieta Valley wide receiver Marquis SpikerFour-star Mission Viejo (Calif.) wide receiver Austin OsborneFour-star Portland (Ore.) Jesuit wide receiver Trey LoweFour-star Bothell (Wash.) pro-style quarterback Jacob Sirmon Four-star Coeur d'Alene (Id.) dual-threat quarterback Colson Yankoff Three-star Spokane (Wash.)
