Washington offered 2018 three-star Reno (Nev.) outside linebacker / BUCK Brandon Kaho in mid February and since then he's been high on the Huskies, despite remaining committed to BYU.

Over the past week he's been wrestling with a decision that could have an impact on his recruitment. The decision, to delay his enrollment in college to take a two-year mission after high school, is one that Kaho hopes schools will understand with the Cougar commit drawn to a higher calling.

"It was always on my mind but I never bothered to really sit down and think about it," Kaho said on the thought process of choosing to go on a mission.

"But as time winds down I really needed to decide if I wanted to or not, so that I could prepare either way. God is just a big part of my life and without him I really wouldn't be here and have the success I have today. Once I put that in perspective I knew this was the right thing to do."

Washington will remain in the hunt without question with an upcoming unofficial visit scheduled for April 21. The Huskies are one of his top five schools as things stand heading into the visit, with the trip a potential spring board for his interest.

Defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski has played a key role in his recruitment thus far for UW and the two have a strong relationship already.

"They wanted me to come and see how it was and it's always been a dream so my dad made it happen," Kaho said of his upcoming UW trip. "I'm very interested in Washington. I can't wait to see how I feel when I visit. Just being a dream schools and the success they have, not only as a football program but as a school is a plus for me."

Kaho will also take a visit to UCLA on April 28 with that trip the last scheduled as things stand.
