Washington became the seventh program to offer 2019 four-star Anaheim (Calif.) Servite wide receiver Kyle Ford on Saturday, joining the likes of Georgia, UCLA and others.
UW wide receivers coach / co-offensive coordinator Matt Lubick made the decision to offer Ford this afternoon and the rising junior receiver couldn't be happier.
"Very," Ford said, when asked how big the UW offer is at this stage in the process. "I've always been big on Washington football and the atmosphere they have."
With the Huskies 2018 receivers class locked up with three four-star recruits: Austin Osborne, Marquis Spiker and Trey Lowe, Lubick has turned his full attention to the class of 2019.
Since college coaches haven't been able to have much contact with junior-to-be recruits until last week, Ford admitted he still wants to learn more about the program and the coaches.
Prior to the offer Ford already planned to visit Washington at some point. But with the offer now made there's even more of an incentive to check out the program.
"No idea yet," Ford said, "but just going up there to see the school, talk to coaches and checking out the program."
Ford is the fourth 2019 wide receiver to add an offer from Washington, joining fellow four-star recruits Joseph Ngata, Theo Wease and Arjei Henderson in the class with an offer from the Huskies.
Once UW can get Ford on campus the Huskies are likely to be seen as one of the frontrunners, with incoming freshman cornerback Keith Taylor also playing a key role.
"I always hear good things about the school and the way the direction of the football program is heading," Ford said, on what makes him interested in the Huskies early on.
The Huskies have signed two recruits from Servite HS under Chris Petersen, the first being long snapper A.J. Carty in 2015. We will continue to follow Ford's recruitment with Washington now firmly in the picture in his recruitment.
