2019 Honolulu (Hi.) St. Louis outside linebacker / defensive end Emmit Vaiese made his first visit to Washington this weekend, joining two other Hawaii recruits for a multi-day trip including both camps.

The 6-foot, 218-pound prospect has been hearing from the Huskies throughout the spring, the visit giving him a greater sense of how UW runs its program.

"The camp was amazing," Vaiese told Rivals.com following his visit. "The school, the people, the coaching staff. I couldn't have asked for more for it being my first time visiting Washington. All in all it was an awesome and I had an amazing and fun time here."

Vaiese made the trip with three-star Pearl City (Hi.) LB Zion Tupuola-Fetui and three-star Waianae (Hi.) Waiakea LB Kana'i Mauga, a USC verbal commit.

It was his first camp to any college this summer and outside of a couple other schools of interest, UW has really made a strong impression early. UCLA has also shown interest, but he noted there are no other visit plans at this point.

From an on-field perspective, Vaiese said the Rising Stars Camp and Dirt Dawg Camp experience offered several tips as he continues to develop.

"I felt I did good but even with that I know I still have tons to work on and have a lot of room for improvement," Vaiese said. "I just have to keep working and getting better. I can use work everywhere because I'm not perfect at anything.

"However, for me I want to work a lot on my speed and getting of the ball quicker. Also my timing coming off the ball. Getting to the quarterback and just making plays. Where as my covering I want to improve on not opening the gate to quick and to read better."
