When Terrell Bynum committed to Washington in April 2016 he became the first recruit to commit to then-new wide receivers coach Bush Hamdan. Now, heading into his final spring in high school at St. John Bosco, Bynum is adjusting to the news of Matt Lubick being his new future position coach.

Wednesday, UW announced the hiring of former the Oregon offensive coordinator as the Huskies wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator, pairing Lubick with offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jonathan Smith again dating back to their days at Oregon State.

"I'm excited. Time to get to work now," Bynum said upon hearing the Lubick news. "Just excited for the season. I haven't talked to him much but I'm sure he's [Lubick] an amazing coach."

Bynum never wavered on his commitment to Washington, due in large part to his relationship with Hamdan. But as is with other high profile recruits Bynum knew what he was getting into and knows it's how the business works.

"It wasn't very surprising. Art of the process," Bynum said on the news of Hamdan's departure. "Nothing but love for him."

The Huskies have Ty Jones enrolling in March with Bynum and three-star Alex Cook enrolling in the summer for the L.E.A.P program. Bynum was one of two four-star receivers to commit under Hamdan, with 2018 four-star WR Austin Osborne being the second shortly before his departure.
