Blake Purchase will soon have a decision to make, and that is one reason he has started to focus more on his recruitment in recent weeks. The three-star edge rusher from Colorado has had to split his focus this offseason as he continues work through the process. After winning a Class 5A state title for Cherry Creek High School in the winter, Purchase quickly turned his attention to the basketball court.

His focus is back on football this spring now that the winter season is over, and in the coming weeks he will make several key visits that will help him ultimately determine where he will end up playing college football.

The 6-foot-4 edge defender visited USC over the weekend and recently made trips to Arizona State and Cal as well. He also continues to see new schools enter the mix with offers including Oregon and Nevada among others.

“It’s definitely starting to get a little stressful,” he said. “I’m starting to get closer to try and make a decision, but it’s definitely fun getting more offers and going out taking a lot of visits.”

Purchase has plans of making a decision this summer, some time around July, so the visits he has up next on his schedule are going to be important. He has already learned a lot on the trips during the trips he already made during the process with schools like Nebraska, Iowa State and Colorado also previously hosting him on visits.

All that information continues to shape his perspective on which schools will eventually be most in play to earn his commitment.

“I’m really starting to see that a school can give you an opportunity to try to come in and play early seeing the schools and seeing everything the coaches are saying,” Purchase said. “That’s especially a big thing I’m starting to notice more with what schools are doing and what schools aren’t when I get on campus.”

Washington decided to offer him once the new coaching staff under Kalen DeBoer had an opportunity to settle in to begin the new year. Since that time, the Huskies have remained a big part of the process for Purchase leading to an upcoming visit with the program.
