The Huskies gained a huge boost in momentum on the recruiting trail Saturday, landing a commitment from four-star two-way lineman Sam Taimani during his official visit.
UW has been recruiting Taimani to play defensive line for the Huskies, a position of need for the 2018 class heading into this weekend. The four-star recruit picked UW over Notre Dame with DL coach Ikaika Malloe playing a key role in securing the No. 213 prospect in this years class, per Rivals rankings.
After arriving in Seattle Friday to begin his 48 hour official visit to UW, Taimani called the city "home". With his commitment to head coach Chris Petersen Saturday night the Huskies now have two four-star DL recruits secured for this years class.
Taimani is the third commitment in a 24-hour span, joining three-star inside linebacker MJ Tafisi and three-star outside linebacker Zion Tupuola-Fetui. Tafisi made his pledge on Friday night and Tupuola-Fetui became the first of two Saturday, announcing his decision earlier in the day.
UW has moved up eight spots this weekend, jumping from No. 26 to No. 18 and increasing the total amount of commits to 17 with just under two months until National Signing Day on Feb. 7.
Most of the Huskies commits have already decided to sign during the 72-hour window between Dec. 20-22, with the three new commits also expected to sign then.
