SEATTLE -- One of the top remaining prospects in the state of Washington for the 2017 class is set to make his college decision at 5 p.m. Friday.
Salvon Ahmed, a 5'11, 182-pound athlete who can play both cornerback and running back, will announce his decision at Juanita High School (Kirkland, Washington) at 5 p.m., with Washington as one of his five finalist.
The No.152 overall prospect according to Rivals cut his list down to Stanford, USC, Oregon, Notre Dame and UW during the summer. At TheOpening in Beaverton, Oregon, Ahmed spoke with Rivals about each school with an official visit to South Bend to see Notre Dame the only missing link.
"So with Hunter and Connor they're always in my ear about Washington," Ahmed said back in July. "Like all those other schools I have a great relationship with the coaches. Coach Petersen is a great guy, [running backs] Coach [Keith] Bhonapha and [defensive backs] Coach [Jimmy] Lake, those are all I have great relationships with."
Washington has only one spot remaining in this years recruiting class when it comes to defensive backs, with fellow four-star prospects Brandon McKinney (safety) and Keith Taylor (cornerback) already in the fold.
All indications point toward the Huskies securing another in-state commit come announcement time. Currently, Washington holds commitments from Hunter Bryant (No.2), Connor Wedington (No.4) and Cade Otton (No.6) as in-state prospects.
Ahmed is the No.3 player in the state while another remaining top UW target Henry Bainivalu, an offensive guard, is the No.5 player in the state. Foster Sarell, the No.3 overall prospect in the country according to Rivals, is the states top prospect.
