Keauntea Bankhead is a Dawg

Despite

the fact that it was the worst kept secret in town,
Keauntea
Bankhead finally made a public announcement last night to Fox Sports
Northwest following Ballard's loss to Pasco in the state 4A finals that he is
going to Washington, "I know I can make things happen at the Dub", Bankhead told
Realdawg.com earlier in the week...
"He's the baby", Jessie Bankhead, Keauntea's father told Realdawg.com earlier
in the week about his son's being the youngest of 6 kids, "We know that he will
get a good education first, for now, this is his day in the sun."
"There's a lot of advantages to staying at home", Bankhead echoed, "They were
all good schools recruiting me, but Washington was the best choice."
We first learned of Bankhead's impending decision to attend Washington
earlier in the week, but Keauntea wanted to report it to the television viewing
audience at his high school's state championship game against Pasco at the
Tacoma Dome.
"I figured it was time", Bankhead said.
Earlier in the week, the Seattle Times printed a story which pretty much let
the cat out of the bag, "I don't think anyone figured he was going anywhere
else", Jessie said, "It was the best choice for him. There's a lot of
advantages. Besides, we'll get to see him play."
Jessie, who now works as a graphic artist in Seattle, spent a lot time at the
University of Washington as an employee in the graphic art department.
Darlene, Keauntea's mother, said, "To see him get over a 3.0 GPA and to get
this scholarship, I'm real proud of him."
One thing some fans might not know about Keauntea is that he has made 2 of
his own CD's as a rap artist, "It's all of his rap stuff", Darlene said, "He
wants to write his own music and do that - he also wants to be a journalist."
Maybe one day Bankhead can write a song about what it means to play football
at the University of Washington, he'll certainly have a chance to.
"I know I can make things happen at the dub", he said.
