TV, radio: FSN-NW will broadcast the game locally, with Kevin Calabro and Lenny Wilkens calling the action. Thursday's game also can be heard on KJR 950-AM.
Coaches: Lorenzo Romar, Washington (ninth year); Dana Altman, Oregon (first year).
Series: Washington leads the series 183-103, including victories in 10 of the past 14 meetings. Last season, Oregon upset Washington at Hec Ed 90-79, and the Huskies won on the road at Mac Court, 86-72.
About the Huskies: The Huskies, who re-entered the Associated Prep poll this week at No. 23, will try to avenge last season's home loss to Oregon. After last week's road sweep of USC and UCLA, the Huskies are currently atop the Pac-10 tied with Oregon State with 2-0 conference records. The Huskies lost their starting point guard, Abdul Gaddy, for the rest of the season due to a torn ACL suffered Tuesday in practice. The strength of UW's depth will be tested as they must find a substitute for Gaddy's production.
About the Ducks: Oregon started out conference play being swept by the Arizona schools at home. Arizona beat the Ducks 76-57, and Arizona State won a close one 60-55 on New Year's Day. The Ducks are led by first-year head coach Dana Altman, who coached previously at Creighton for 16 years. Altman replaces Oregon's former coach Ernie Kent, who had coached the Ducks since 1997 and led them to five NCAA tournament appearances during his tenure. Oregon is led in scoring by a dramatically improved fifth-year senior forward, Joevan Catron (16.4 ppg). E.J. Singler, the younger brother of Duke star Kyle Singler, is averaging 12.1 points and 6.4 rebounds in his sophomore season with the Ducks. Junior guard Malcolm Armstead had a big game at Hec Ed last season with 21 points and six assists.
