Scouting report: Stanford at Washington

Matchup: Stanford Cardinal (13-10 overall, 6-6 Pac-10) at Washington Huskies (16-7, 8-4)

Series: Stanford leads the all-time series 70-65 and dealt Washington its first conference loss of the season, 58-56, on Jan. 13.

About the Huskies: The Huskies are coming off one of their best performances of the season in a 109-77 victory over California, setting season highs in assists, blocks and made three-pointers (17) while also setting the Husky record for most points scored against a Pac-10 opponent. Isaiah Thomas had a career-high six 3-pointers and finished with 23 points and nine assists, helping the Huskies put their recent struggles to rest following a three-game losing streak. UW will need Thomas to provide more scoring this time against the Cardinal, as the Huskies struggled to put up points in the last meeting with Stanford. Matthew Bryan-Amaning, the Huskies' second-leading scorer, only had eight points on 3-of-5 shooting from the field in the last matchup. Look for him to have a much more active role on the offensive end this time around. The Huskies have been a much better team playing at home than on the road this season, going 12-0. Expect them to put up more than 56 points and shoot better than 36 percent from the field in their second chance against Stanford.

About the Cardinal: Stanford enters Saturday's game against the Huskies coming off a 75-62 victory over the Cougars. The Cardinal is in a three-way tie for fourth place in the conference with a record of 6-6. Jeremy Green continues to be the go-to guy for the Cardinal. He finished with 12 points in the last meeting with the Huskies and averages 15.3 points per game. Freshman Josh Owens was a force for the Cardinal in helping them defeat the Huskies last month, scoring 14 points to go along with five rebounds. The Cardinal will once again try to control the tempo of the game against the Huskies, as they want to prevent Washington from getting out and running in transition, and they want to keep the score in the 60s or low 70s to have a chance to upset Washington on the Huskies' home floor.
