Washington hosted 2017 Katy (Tex.) linebacker Breydon Boyd in late February on an unofficial visit. The Huskies made a strong impression on the LoneStar State linebacker, who broke down his visit with Rivals.com recently...

"It was great," Boyd said. "I really like [Head] Coach [Chris] Peterson and [Linebackers] Coach [Bob] Gregory. I like the facilities and Seattle is really lit. I like the way the campus was laid out and really catered to the student athletes. The football facilities, the stadium and the staff are great."

Boyd, a 6'4, 220-pound linebacker, spoke with Head Coach Chris Petersen and linebackers coach Bob Gregory about how he would fit in the defensive scheme and where he stands with an offer.

While Washington has already offered thirteen linebackers in 2017, a strong senior season and a few other cards falling into place could help him land an offer. But the coaches were forward, acknowledging they're only taking a small number of linebackers in this class.

However, the lack of an offer didn't stop Boyd from having a good conversation with Petersen and Gregory.

"I really like Coach Peterson and Gregory," Boyd said. "Real good motivators and really know and understand the game of football. You can tell they know how to encourage players as a coach, but also play the role of your "father" away from home.

"I like the strength and conditioning coach's philosophy as well. All around, a great feel for a campus and a football program."

Boyd currently holds verbal offers from Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Iowa State, New Mexico, Texas State and UNLV.
