Zoom Diallo is finishing his his high school career in California at Prolific Prep, but Washington has remained on Tacoma native's mind. His time away will be short lived, however.

Saturday, the four-star recruit announced his commitment to play for Mike Hopkins, Will Conroy and the Huskies. It marks a major recruiting victory for UW, which beat out a final group that included Arizona, Gonzaga and USC.

The 6-foot-5 point guard, who previously played at Curtis High School, was deliberate with his recruiting process and never rushed a decision. He took several recruiting trips over the last couple years allowing him to get a full understanding of each of the finalists.

"You get to know the culture, the campus life, the game setting and what it's like at a game," he previously said. "You get to interact with the fans. It's the whole college experience and prepares you if you were to go there."

It seemed as though each of the programs on his short list could be considered the leader at one point or another but the Huskies remained in the picture before making a recent surge ahead of his announcement.

UW hosted him on a visit in September, and he also took official visits to the other finalists as well with Arizona being among the other programs to host him on multiple trips.

Diallo has seen his stock rise over the last couple years as college coaches began fiercely recruiting him opening up a number of doors at the next level. Eventually, he decided to make the move to Napa, California to finish out his career to help elevate him even more as a national prospect.

"When I was little I always wanted to be one of the top guys in the country and get all this recognition," he said. "Now, that I got a little bit of it, it means a lot and I'm not gonna shy away from it."

Diallo is the second commitment for Hopkins and the Huskies in the 2024 class as the high four-star recruit joins fall signee Casmir Davis in the group. The new UW commit is currently rated as the No. 4 point guard in the class.

He is the first top-30 recruit to commit to Washington since the 2019 cycle when the Huskies landed five-star prospects Isaiah Stewart (No. 2) and Jaden McDaniels (No. 7).
