Tradition Continues: Four-Star TE Ryan Otton Commits to Washington
A last name synonymous with University of Washington football has made his decision.
Ryan Otton, the younger brother of senior tight end Cade Otton, a four-star recruit out of Tumwater High School announced his commitment to the program Friday evening.
He becomes the ninth pledge in the 2022 class for the Huskies and secures another high priority target for second-year TE coach Derham Cato.
With the addition of the four-star, who is ranked as the No. 189 overall prospect in this years’ class according to Rivals’ rankings, Cato has filled both of the tight end spots.
More importantly, though, it marks a major recruiting victory over Stanford, where historically those battles haven’t always come out in favor of the purple and gold. The Cardinal hosted Otton in June, as did UW and Oregon State, for an official visit and there was a thought that the younger brother could carve out his own path in northern California
He elected instead to stay home and dawn the same jersey as his other brother.
As fate would have it, Ryan will come to the school with a much higher ranking and arguably better than Cade did. That is not a slight – it’s why the Huskies so badly needed to secure his commitment for the 2022 class.
He pairs with three-star Lincoln High School (Tacoma, Wash.) tight end Chance Bogan, who is more of a flexed out player that can double as a slot receiver, whereas Otton is more of a traditional in-line tight end.
