Washington landed its first offensive line commit for the class of 2017 early Sunday afternoon, a source informed Rivals moments after the decision.
2017 four-star Sammamish (Wash.) offensive guard Henry Bainivalu made his pledge to UW coach Chris Petersen on Sunday, the source said.
The No.5 prospect in the state of Washington was on an official visit this weekend to UW, his second official and officially his last. His only other first was to Oregon earlier in the season.
Bainivalu gives Washington the No.2, No.3, No.4, No.5 and No.6 overall prospects in the state for the 2017 class. Prior to kickoff Bainivalu was standing on the UW sideline wearing a grey UW jacket, with his family decked out in Huskies gear.
The commitment comes as no surprise, but it's a commitment UW needed. Washington will only take three offensive linemen in 2017, leaving two spots open and ultimately one, with one spot being held out for 5-star OT Foster Sarell.
Sarell is the No.1 player in Washington and No.3 prospect overall in the country per Rivals' rankings. Sources have continued to reiterate that Washington will go all the way to the wire for Sarell's letter of intent, with the Huskies looking better each week to land the coveted offensive tackle prospect.
