Washington will host 2018 three-star Salt Lake City (Utah) East defensive tackle Sam Vakalahi this weekend.

The No. 10 prospect in the state has been a primary target for Huskies defensive line coach Ikaika Malloe for months, with the visit the beginning of possible more good news on the UW recruiting front.

"I'm really excited," Vakalahi told Rivals.com ahead of visit visit to Seattle. "UW is just a school that's been there from the beginning of everything. I'm looking forward to meeting the coaches and getting to be around the program overall."

UW head coach Chris Petersen has also played a significant role in his recruitment thus far, with Malloe having recruited him while he coached at Utah State. The Huskies have been battling a late-spring push from Oregon, along with several other schools, for Vakalahi's commitment.

For the Huskies to get one of the top defensive line targets on campus could go a long way in securing his commitment. Vakalahi has noted for months at Washington is a top three school for him, with UCLA and Oregon being the most recent other two schools joining the list.
