Washington is closing up the summer recruiting season with a bang. The Huskies have now added five commitments in the final week of official visits in the offseason. The latest prospect to make his decision wrapped up an official visit with the program this weekend.

Two-way California athlete Vincent Holmes has been on the radar for Kalen DeBoer's staff for a while now, and Saturday he decided it was time to end the process. Holmes took an official visit to Colorado earlier in the month, and he also held offers from programs such as USC, UCLA, Oregon State, Arizona, Washington State, BYU and others.

A rangy playmaker, the San Jacinto standout receiver and defensive back is expected to come to UW as a safety to begin his college career.

Washington was just the second Power Five school to offer Holmes back in February, and since that time the coaches continued to make him a priority target with numerous members of the coaching staff being involved in the process.

Holmes is just the latest recruit to give UW his commitment this week, and that list is likely to grow as the rest of a large group of visitors finishes up official visits on Sunday.

In all, the Huskies have added commitments from in-state defensive end Jacob Lane, Texas defensive back Diesel Gordon, Texas defensive end Anthony James II and Colorado offensive lineman Zachary Henning this week.

UW has more than doubled the size of its class in that time after going a month without a commitment.

At 6-foot-2, Holmes will add some length to the secondary at Washington and give the team a versatile safety capable of making game-changing plays on the back end of the defense. As a junior, he had four interceptions and returned one of those interceptions for a touchdown. He also had 15 tackles and two tackles for loss.

Holmes will be the second player from San Jacinto High School on the UW roster next season joining second-year freshman cornerback Davon Banks, who previously played alongside the new Washington commit.

The Huskies now have nine commitments in the 2023 class and have jumped up to No. 39 in the Rivals overall team recruiting rankings as well as the No. 5 class in the Pac-12.
