Former Oklahoma Wide Receiver KJ Young Transferring to Washington

SEATTLE -- Washington has bolstered its wide receiver group with the addition of former Oklahoma wide receiver KJ Young multiple sources told Rivals. Young was dismissed by Sooners Head Coach Bob Stoops on May 17, 2015 for a violation of team rules.

Young, a 6'1, 178-pound wide receiver, last played at Riverside Community College in 2015 and finished his season with 421 receiving yards and six touchdowns in nine games. One source told Rivals that Young will have two years left and play this season as a redshirt junior.

Washington struggled at wide receiver during the 2015 season, with senior Jaydon Mickens as the teams leading receiver in receptions (58) and receiving yards (692). No UW receiver had more than three touchdown receptions last season and the second highest leading receiver in both receptions and yards was tight end Joshua Perkins, also a senior.

In his final season at Oklahoma in 2014, Young was the teams fourth leading receiver with 19 receptions, 225 yards and one touchdown. Now, Young joins a receivers group that also returns John Ross after he sat out the 2015 season due to a sever knee injury.

Washington held two open scholarships before the addition of Young, leaving them with 84 total scholarship players heading into fall camp on Monday. No other roster or personnel moves are expected before the beginning of camp, a source told Rivals.

Young will fly up to Seattle on Sunday and join the team just in time for the beginning of fall camp on Monday.
