Washington has gone into the transfer portal to replenish its wide receiver room.

After losing seniors Ty Jones and Jordan Chin following the conclusion of the 2020 season, the Huskies beat out Houston and Kentucky for a former four-star wide receiver.

Ja’Lynn Polk, a 6-foot-2 and 190-pound freshman, has announced his decision to transfer to UW, joining a former high school teammate. Polk recorded 28 receptions and 264 yards in his lone season in Lubbock, along with hauling down a pair of touchdowns.

He also didn’t have a single drop.

Polk played at Lufkin High School with 2021 running back signee Caleb Berry and the two trained together during the last offseason. Polk will enroll at Washington in time to participate in spring football practices.

In high school, Polk received 17 scholarship offers and reach four-star status before an injury-plagued senior season lowered him by a star. His talent is without question.

“As a senior he battled injuries so less productive and was unable to maintain the same level as a junior or in the offseason leading into his final high school season,” Rivals South Central Recruiting Analyst Sam Spiegelman said of Polk.

“He was a 5.8 four-star at one point and a promising downfield threat that battled for contested balls and could create mismatches with his size.”
