Washington is in the midst of its best recruiting week under new head coach Kalen DeBoer as the big push in June for the Huskies has gone as planned. The latest member of the 2023 class to join the fray is Aurora (Colo.) Grandview offensive lineman Zachary Henning, who announced his commitment to the Huskies after completing an official visit with the program this week.

UW is currently hosting several top targets for weekend official visits, but Henning is one of the recruits who made it out to Seattle a few days early. The 6-foot-6 prospect previously visited Washington in the spring leading to the program becoming a top contender.

“I would like to thank my whole family for their support through my recruiting journey," Henning wrote in a post on Twitter announcing his decision. "Also would like to thank Coach Doherty for all that he had done for me. And Matt McChesney for all that he has done for me. And everyone else that has pushed me along my journey along with my teammates. I would not be where I am today without all these people in my life so I sincerely thank you.”

Henning has been a key target along the offensive line for the Huskies in the current recruiting cycle, but the program had to battle several other schools for his commitment. Utah, Colorado, Kansas State, Oregon State and San Diego State are some of the other schools that have pursued the three-star recruit.

UW offensive line coach Scott Huff guided the recruitment of Henning and offered the newest commit back in early February as the two began to build their relationship.

In addition to having Henning on campus this week, the Huskies are also hosting priority offensive line targets Elishah Jackett and Landen Hatchett looking to close the month strong with decision not likely far off for both recruits.

Henning is the eighth commitment in Washington's 2023 class and the fourth recruit to give the Huskies his pledge since the beginning of the week. Former Texas A&M defensive end commit Anthony James II announced his commitment to UW on Friday as he begins his official visit with the team.
