In eight months Junior Adams has done something only one other previous UW wide receivers coach has done during the Chris Petersen era.
Land two four-star WR recruits in the same class.
On Monday, after a recent trip to the University of Oklahoma and months of deliberation, Bishop Gorman HS (Las Vegas, Nevada) four-star receiver Rome Odunze announced his commitment to Washington.
Odunze, a 6-foot-3 and 183-pound WR is ranked as the No. 2 prospect from the state of Nevada in the 2020 class.
He marks the second four-star receiver to commit in this years’ cycle, joining San Joaquin Memorial HS (Fresno, California) receiver Jalen McMillan.
The Huskies now have three WR commitments for the 2020 class with McMillan, Odunze and three-star Hockinson HS (Brush Prairie, Washington) receiver Sawyer Racanelli. All three have recorded at least one 1,000-yard season entering their senior year.
As a junior for Bishop Gorman, Odunze hauled in 15 touchdowns and finished with 1,347 receiving yards in 14 games.
Respectively, McMillan recorded 19 touchdowns and 1,401 yards for San Joaquin Memorial while Racanelli finished his junior season with 1,764 yards and 21 touchdowns.
UW remains ranked No. 22 for Rivals 2020 team recruiting rankings and now stand at 16 verbal commitments with the addition of Odunze.
The Huskies sit No. 2 in the Pac-12 recruiting standings behind Oregon at No. 13 overall while gaining separation from the California Golden Bears who rank No. 28.
Rounding out the Conference of Champion recruiting rankings as the numbers stand for the 2020 class; Stanford at No. 30, Arizona State at No. 37, Colorado at No. 44, UCLA at No. 61, USC at No. 66, with Arizona, Oregon State and Washington State tied at No. 69.
The last time Washington signed two or more four-star WR prospects in the same recruiting class was 2018. However, at the time Austin Osborne and Marquis Spiker committed to UW in February and March 2017 respectively, the lead recruiter for both had departed the staff.
Bush Hamdan, now quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator for the Huskies, had served as the teams WR coach during the 2016 season and played a key role in landing both Osborne and Spiker.
The third four-star to sign with UW as part of the 2018 class was Trey Lowe out of Jesuit HS (Portland, Oregon). Lowe was primarily recruited by Matt Lubick, who served as the receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator from 2017-18, along with UW running backs coach Keith Bhonpaha.
