Washington quarterback commit Colson Yankoff, a four-star recruit out of Coeur d'Alene High School (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho), is still hoping to attend the Elite 11 finals this summer while recovering from knee surgery.
Rated as the No.138 overall recruit in the class of 2018 per Rivals' rankings, Yankoff told Rivals.com on Thursday he will miss the nations premier high school quarterbacking competition due a "knee injury".
Coeur d'Alene HS head football coach Shawn Amos told NW Preps Now that Yankoff suffered the injury during a May 4 track meet. Yankoff confirmed to Rivals.com he has already had surgery on his knee, but remained noncommittal on a specific timetable for his return.
"Frustrating," Yankoff said, referred to being unable to compete in the Elite 11 finals at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. "Hopefully I'll still get to go to the Elite 11."
Yankoff, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound signal caller is one of two QB commits for Washington in 2018. The Huskies also hold a commitment from four-star Bothell (Wash.) pro-style quarterback Jacob Sirmon.
