Washington has its eight verbal commitment for the 2019 recruiting class following an announcement on Twitter from three-star wide receiver Taj Davis.
The 6'3, 185-pound recruit out of Upland High School (Upland, California) is the first commit for the Huskies at the position.
"First off, I wouldn't be here without God. He is the one that guided me throughout my entire process and I would be nothing without him. I would also like to thank every school that offered me an opportunity to play for them, my family and friends for always pushing me and motivating me to be great, and a huge shout out to coach Rob for constantly working me and always be there for me. With that being said I will be committing to...THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON #PURP1EREIG9N #GODAWGS," the tweet from Davis read on Wednesday night.
The latest commitment vaults UW up four spots on Rivals for the 2019 class, ranked No. 21 nationally and second in the Pac-12 Conference behind Oregon at No. 12. With Davis now holding one of the WR spots it could be the first of a few at the position.
On June 2 the Huskies will host their annual Rising Stars Camp and several unofficial visitors are expected to make the trip north to Seattle. One of those prospects, four-star WR Josh Delgado, told Rivals that he will bring at least one Rivals150 receiver with him, who is currently committed to an SEC school.
Delgado, a 5'11, 180-pound WR who will play this fall at IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida) after transferring from St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) in January, was expected to make his pledge in April, but held off after a meeting with UW head coach Chris Petersen.
With his fourth trip to the Emerald City on the horizon next month Davis could soon see more future teammates add their name to UW's 2019 class.
As a junior the Huskies latest commit hauled in 12 touchdown receptions, 51 in total over 13 games for Upland, in addition to his 1, 218 receiving yards.
