Notable Recruits Camping at Washington Saturday; Several Offers Expected

Washington is hosting its only Rising Stars Camp this summer on Saturday. Several four-star recruits in 2019, 2020 and 2021 have made the trip to Seattle, a mixed bag of prospects with an offer from the Huskies and others still chasing the Purple and Gold envelope.

Of note, four-star quarterback commit Dylan Morris, the No. 2 pro-style signal-caller and ranked as the No. 47 overall recruit in the 2019 class by Rivals, is not at UW this weekend.

Morris, who showed well at the 4th annual MayMadness showcase event at Juanita High School last Saturday, is currently competing in the Elite 11 down in Los Angeles, California. In addition, three-star Honolulu (Hi.) Kaimuki defensive lineman Sama Paama is competing in a lineman competition in California.

Four-star wide receiver Josh Delgado told Rivals on Friday night that a family emergency forced him to cancel his planned trip to UW this weekend. Instead, four-star Orem (Utah) WR Puka Nacua, a 6'2, 170-pound prospect ranked No. 74 overall in 2019, the No. 5 recruit from the state in this cycle.

Staying at the position, another Rivals100 prospect making the trek to the Evergreen State this weekend is four-star Calabasas (Calif.) WR Mycah Pittman, ranked as the No. 13 player at his position and No. 76 nationally by Rivals.

The 6'1 and 190-pound receiver announced on Twitter in late May that he scheduled an official visit to Washington for June 21-22, the last week junior recruits can take their 48-hour trip this spring before the July dead period.

Having the Rivals100 WR on campus twice in the same month could bode well for the Huskies chances to land the talented Calabasas HS product.

The Huskies signed two players from Mountain Region state in 2018; three-star Sandy High School (Sandy, Utah) inside linebacker MJ Tafisi, and four-star East High School (Salt Lake City, Utah) defensive lineman Sam Taimani. UW also beat out Alabama for Rivals100 LB Ale (Brandon) Kaho, which could help with Nacua since the two are good friends.

Keeping with tradition and making a point to recruit the Islands, four-star Kapolei (Hi.) offensive tackle Julius Buelow, the No. 3 ranked prospect from Hawaii in 2019, spent time Friday on campus with UW commit Nathaniel Kalepo and returned Saturday for the camp.

The 6-7, 307-pound tackle would be the highest ranked recruit that second-year OL coach Scott Huff has landed, should Buelow sign with UW when the time comes to make his decision. Kalepo is one of two OL commits for the Huskies '19 class, along with Juco OT Corey Luciano.

Switching to defense, three-star Richmond (Tex.) George Ranch strong-side defensive end Peter Mpagi, a 6-foot-3 and 220-pounder with 21 scholarship offers to date including UW, is also on campus this weekend. The LoneStar State prospect is a prototypical BUCK in the Huskies base defense as a rush-end linebacker.

Texas is another state that Chris Petersen was known for recruiting at Boise State, and since the 2016 class has been putting more of an onus on at UW. Only Levi Onwuzurike, Myles Rice and Aaron Fuller represented the state prior to the Huskies signing three-star OL Victor Curne in 2018 out of Houston, Texas.

In the 2020 class, four-star WR Gee Scott Jr. and three-star ATH Ayden Hector, both Eastside Catholic High School (Bellevue, Washington) products, are camping at UW and could earn offers Saturday.
