Rutgers guard Paul Mulcahy announces transfer to Washington

Mike Hopkins now has the final piece in place for his roster in the upcoming season. Tuesday, Rutgers point guard Paul Mulcahy announced his transfer to Washington becoming the 13th scholarship player for the Huskies after a busy recruitment that took him on visits to Notre Dame and Xavier.

The 6-foot-7 graduate transfer from New Jersey averaged 8.3 points, a team-high 4.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds last season, which was his fourth with the Scarlet Knights.

Mulcahy announced back in June that he would be leaving Rutgers and his home to finish out his career elsewhere after making 81 starts and playing in 121 games through four seasons.

Rated a three-star transfer by Rivals, Mulcahy has been one of the top available players in the portal this late in the process after he went through the NBA draft process earlier in the spring.

His addition gives the Huskies more experience to add to the team for the upcoming season with Hopkins having already retooled the roster this offseason once again.

Like most programs, UW has had to overhaul its roster since the spring and that has meant the addition of several transfers. Mulcahy is the sixth transfer added to the roster in Seattle this offseason joining recently announced transfers Wilhelm Breidenbach (Nebraska) and Nate Calmese (Lamar) in addition to previous additions Sahvir Wheeler (Kentucky), Anthony Holland (Fresno State) and Moses Wood (Portland).

The Huskies also added 2023 recruits Wesley Yates and Christian King for the upcoming season.
