Washington lands 2024 Texas DB Joshua Lair following official visit

A day after landing a surprise commitment from offensive lineman Davit Boyajyan, Washington picked up commitment No. 14 for the 2024 class Monday afternoon. This one had been in the works a bit longer.

High three-star safety Joshua Lair from Fort Bend Marshall in Texas has committed to the Huskies after taking a previously-delayed official visit to Seattle over the weekend. The trip to Montlake had previously been pushed back, but UW's staff was able to close up the recruitment once the 6-foot-2 prospect made it back for a return visit.

UW offered Lair early in the year, and he eventually made it on campus for an unofficial visit in April.

Since that time, he has continued to build on his relationship with Kalen DeBoer's staff, namely safeties coach and co-defensive coordinator Chuck Morrell.

A number of programs offered Lair throughout the process with Texas, Baylor and LSU all earning official visits from the new UW commit back in June.

Oregon, TCU, Miami, Utah, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Auburn, Nebraska, Missouri, Tennessee and Michigan are some of the other schools that offered Lair earlier in his recruitment.

He is the third defensive back to commit to UW in the cycle joining cornerback Elias Johnson and versatile athlete Peyton Waters.

The Huskies now rank 49th overall in the 2024 Rivals team recruiting rankings.
