Washington extended an offer to 2017 three-star Tumwater (Wash.) tight end Cade Otton Thursday night, but not to play tight end. TheDawgReport.com has learned the Huskies have offered the under-the-radar prospect as an athlete, essentially, having the chance to play linebacker, tight end or the BUCK hybrid position.
Washington already holds a commitment from 2017 four-star Sammamish (Wash.) Eastside Catholic tight end Hunter Bryant, the No.134 overall prospect in 2017 according to Rivals.
Currently, the Huskies do not hold a commitment from either a linebacker or BUCK, a position that UW will only take one, potentially two. 2016 three-star tight end Jacob Kizer is also grey shirting and will enroll in January, to heal from a back injury and due to signifiant depth at the position.
As a junior at Tumwater, the 6'5, 225-pound Otton finished with 11 tackles and one sack on defense while recording five receptions for 125 yards and one touchdown in three games.
Those around Otton have suggested earlier this summer that if Washington extended an offer, it would almost certainly be an instant decision to commit. While it might be late Thursday night or just sooner rather than later, the Huskies are poised to add another in-state prospect to their commitment list.
